I received my teaching certification in English and have extensive experience tutoring students to reach their specific academic goals. With more than ten years in the classroom and more than twenty individually tutoring students, I have come to realize all students want to be successful; some simply have more difficulty knowing how to make that desire a reality. In order to most effectively help my students achieve their personal academic goals I take the time to get to know them and their learning style. We then work together to discern exactly what they want to achieve, set realistic goals, and identify the steps needed to reach them. I work with students in all grades and ability levels in core subjects. I also help students learn effective test taking strategies and prepare them for specific standardized tests such as the SAT. Often students simply need to develop more confidence in their own ability to see a dramatic improvement in their grades. We accomplish this by ensuring the foundation for the curriculum is mastered and ample time is given to practice and solidify new material.I know education is power and it is my goal to empower students and motivate them to develop a life of continuing education.When I am not teaching I enjoy dance, watching movies, listening to music, and yoga.
